| I have 88 635csi. I reset SI last month for 'inspection'. All was fine. This week the yellow and red lights are on with or without ignition being on. When in the on position the 'oil service' light is also on. Based on my research I believe my SI board batteries are dead since my R5 reset does nothing now. I am looking for the instructions for pulling the instrument cluster, diassembling , and replacing the batteries, to make sure I get it right. I believe the board has 2 AA nicads that are soldered in. Any advice, tips or information anyone can share to help me do this right (including my diagnosis!) Thanks in advance for your assistance! bob

| If you don't visit Roadfly dot org, go there. Under the e24 board there should be instructions on removing the cluster, as I know it can be alittle harder on the six. Then either search that board, the 5 or the 7 board for instructions on replacing the batteries. I would suggest you also consider doing the remote battery setup to make future replacements easier. Also find out if the sixes board changed with the other ones (which it should have-the change was sometime in 85), you may have the Lithium batteries instead of the NiCds, in which their location and proceedure for changing them is different.
