Eksten is the place to go. I too had really bad experience at Mac's II as they don't seem to know what they are doing besides paint jobs.

Check out Gilbert Motor Works in Webster. Curt does most of the stuff I don't do myself.

I would recommend Eksten's, too except for the scheduling problem, the neighborhood, and the fact they buggered my shock towers when doing an alignment on my M3 with camber plates (pry marks all around the flanges).

After reading through the recommendations, can anyone recommend a shop for a piece of purely cosmetic bodywork? (rear bumper and quarter panel?)

I've been operating a "hobby" dealership for several years, buying, reconditioning and selling older European sports cars. Recently I have expanded into offering service and restoration to the public. Randy Ames, an experienced BMW tech, has joined me. He operated Phoenix Imports in East Rochester for 15 years and traveled with a BMW race team for 3 years. I also have a highly skilled body restoration man, Justin Raymer, available to do body repair up through bare shell body restoration and show paint. Justin's work on Shelby Mustangs has won many awards and been featured in several magazine articles. He's done a E-Type Jag and an Alfa Giulietta for me.

We are located at 6375 Furnace Road in Ontario, NY, 1000 ft North of Rt 104. Call me at 585-746-1848 or Randy at 585-703-2916

Thanks,
George Leopard

Randy Ames, formerly owner of Phoenix Imports, and with several years at Fountain Motorsports is now operating out of AutoLinc Sports & Classics, 6375 Furnace Road, Ontario, NY. The shop phone is 315-333-1045. He does fantastic work, saves you money by really understanding what is wrong before he "fixes" it, and seems to be dead honest. He is a wizard with electronics and normally spends more time on a car than he charges for.

@ Dieter - your profile doesn't indicate where you llive. If it's convenient to you I can highly recommend Choice One Auto Finishing in Ontario. They are on the north side of 104 at 350. Kelly can really lay paint well and prices fairly, but his level of service is what brings me back. Just a super guy to work with.

As for service I will stand by CDI until I live too far to make a drive. Stellar service, fair practices, flexible scheduling, and great guys to entrust your car with.
